The Queen is in the North today to undertake a series of royal engagements.

She is being accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh. The couple arrived in the North late last night.

It is the Queen’s first visit to the North since February 2003, when she officially opened the Laganside court complex in Belfast city centre.

Meanwhile, President McAleese is also due in the North later today.

Mrs McAleese is expected to attend the Irish film premiere of the new Chronicles of Narnia blockbuster, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in Belfast.
