€5bn extra in public spending kitty for 2006

An extra €5bn will be allocated to public spending next year, Minister for Finance Brian Cowen has said in his Budget speech.

The extra spend will bring the total to €50.6bn. Some €12.2bn of that will be spent on the health sector, the Minister said.
