A man will appear in court today charged with motoring offences following a fatal car accident in east Belfast.

A man will appear in court today charged with motoring offences following a fatal car accident in east Belfast.

The 38-year-old was accused of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit after he was arrested at the scene where a pedestrian was knocked down and killed.

The victim, aged 30, was struck by a red BMW car on the Upper Newtownards Road yesterday morning. Two men were in the vehicle but were not seriously injured.

The man due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates Court has also been charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance.
