The Government is to give €200,000 towards monitoring a border crossing in Gaza, it was revealed today.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern said the money would be used to fund the EU border assistance mission in Rafah.

The controversial crossing is reopening this month as part of an agreement reached between Israel and the Palestinian authority.

Ireland has given over €4m so far this year towards resolving conflict in the Palestinian territories.
