Police granted extension to quiz man
A man being questioned in connection with a gangland murder in Dublin today had his period of detention extended.
The 32-year-old was driving the Ford Mondeo which was sprayed with bullets outside the Yacht pub on the Clontarf Road.
His passenger, Noel Roche, was killed in the attack, which happened around 9.30pm on Tuesday.
Dublin District Court today granted detectives an additional 24 hours to question the man under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The extension will run until 4pm on Sunday.
The murder of Mr Roche, 27, was believed to be a reprisal for the shooting of Darren Geoghegan and Gavin Byrne in the Firhouse area of the city on Sunday night.
Mr Roche’s brother, John, was shot dead in Kilmainham last March as part of a five-year feud between two rival gangs that has now claimed eight lives.
