Firefighters were tonight dealing with a blaze at a department store in Dublin’s city centre.

Two units of the Dublin Fire Brigade were called out at 3.48pm to a fire at a storeroom in Guiney’s clothing shop on Middle Abbey street.

Eyewitnesses reported smoke billowing out of the building towards the Irish Life Centre across the road.

A Dublin fire brigade spokesman confirmed that two units were attending the scene.

“It was just a small fire and we’ve contained it. The lads are just wrapping up at the moment,” he said.
