New scheme reduces wait for mental health services

A pilot scheme in Co Kildare has led to a major reduction in waiting times for children's mental health services, according to the National Council for Development of Nursing.

The scheme sees patients being assessed by a clinical nurse who then refers the child to the appropriate specialist.
