Gardaí are today investigating an incident where two men were shot dead in a gangland-style attack in South Dublin.

Gardaí are today investigating an incident where two men were shot dead in a gangland-style attack in South Dublin.

The pair were shot in the head at point blank range by two gunmen as they sat in their car in Carrigwood estate in Firhouse.

The attack took place shortly before 1pm yesterday.

Gardaí believe the two en drove into the estate followed by their attackers.

It is understood the victims stopped their car and the two gunmen jumped from their vehicle and shot them.

A BMW car thought to have been used in the attack was found abandoned in a nearby estate.

Forensic teams have sealed off the area, and State pathologist Marie Cassidy has been informed.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Carrigwood estate between 9.30pm and 10.30pm to contact them.
