Households 'paying thousands in hidden taxes'

Households are paying thousands of euros in hidden government taxes and charges each year, it was claimed today.

Fine Gael’s national conference in north Cork heard today that the total tax take had more than doubled to €€8.5bn since the Fianna Fáil-led coalition came to power in 1997.
