Charities seek improved tax relief on donations

A coalition of Irish charities has called for improved tax relief on donations in the upcoming Budget.

At present, charities can claim tax rebates from the Revenue Commissioners on behalf of everyone who donates more than €250 in a year.

The Irish Charities Tax Reform Group wants this figure reduced to €100 and also wants the Government to introduce VAT reliefs for charitable organisations.
