Conference discusses inequalities facing Travellers
The Irish Traveller Movement and the Equality Authority are holding a conference in Dublin today to discuss ongoing inequalities suffered by Travellers.
The conference was arranged to analyse and review whether equality legislation has improved the situation of Travellers over the past five years.
Research has shown that more than 600 Traveller families live on Irish roadsides without basic facilities.
Travellers also have higher mortality rates, higher unemployment rates and less educational achievements than the rest of the population.
