An Post strike called off after emergency meeting
The strike at An Post has been called off after the Communications Workers Union agreed this afternoon not to take further industrial action pending completion of talks.
Postal services should return to normal by tomorrow after the action, which began at midnight last night.
Following the meeting, which lasted several hours, union General Secretary Steve Fitzpatrick said there would be no more industrial action until talks hosted by the National Implementation Body reached a conclusion.
This process will now also include an independent assessment of the costs of a number of amendments to the Labour Court recommendations made in July.
