Gardaí investigating serious sexual assault in Monaghan

Gardaí are reportedly investigating a serious sexual assault on a 24-year-old woman in Co Monaghan yesterday morning.

Reports this morning said the woman told detectives she was walking home alone following a night out when a car with four men inside stopped alongside her.

One of them men then subjected her to a brutal sexual assault that lasted for more than an hour. The attack happened on the road between Castleblaney and Doohamlet at around 3am.

The victim was reportedly abandoned on the roadside before being picked up by another passing motorist and taken to Ballybay for treatment.
