Man still held in relation to Dublin murder

A 55-year-old man was still being held this morning by gardaí investigating the discovery of a woman’s body in Dublin’s city centre on Tuesday.

The man presented himself to gardaí yesterday afternoon, three days after the woman’s body was found wrapped in a blood-stained duvet on Mercer Street, near St Stephen’s Green.

He was being detained at Harcourt Terrace garda station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act, which means he can be held for 12 hours.

The woman has been named as 49-year-old Rosemary Dowling of Home Villas, Donnybrook, in Dublin.

She was a mother of two who ran a small CD shop on Aungier Street.
