Review of deaths in Leas Cross nursing home begins

An independent review of all deaths at the Leas Cross nursing home since 2002 has been initiated.

Medical records and standards of care in 95 cases where patients died, are being scrutinised as part of the review and a report is expected to be completed in December.

Leas Cross, in north Co Dublin, closed in August following concerns over the care of elderly patients

Fine Gael Deputy, Fergus O’ Dowd has been demanding that the review take place and said that he wants it to lead to change and new legislation in the area.
