Dermot Laide in unfair pre-trial media coverage claim
The Circuit Criminal Court is due to hear an application this morning relating to pre-trial publicity in the case of Co Monaghan man Dermot Laide.
Mr Laide from Rossvale, Castleblaney, Co Monaghan stands trial in April next year charged with the manslaughter of 18-year-old Brian Murphy outside Club Annabels at the Burlington hotel in Dublin, in August 2000.
Lawyers for 23-year-old Laide and the DPP have already expressed concern to Justice Yvonne Murphy about any pre-trial publicity which might affect his right to a fair hearing.
