Murder investigation launched after Dublin body-find

Gardaí have said that they are now conducting a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman's body in Dublin city centre.

The grim find was made by passers-by on Mercer Street, near St Stephen's Green, just after 4am today.

The body was found wrapped in a sheet with a rope tied around it. The age and nationality of the woman is not known.

Forensic experts are at the scene and the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, will carry out a post mortem later today.
