HSE clarifies position on medical card entitlements for the terminally ill

The Health Service Executive has moved to clarify the medical card entitlements of the terminally ill, claiming that such patients have never been automatically entitled to a medical card.

The HSE said this afternoon that they will continue to treat applications in those cases in as sensitive a manner as is possible.
