HSE decides to suspend rollout of PPARS payroll system
The board of the Health Service Executive has decided - as expected - to suspend the introduction of the controversial computerised payroll system for the health service.
The decision was made today pending a review of the quality and value for money of the PPARS system.
The computers were originally due to cost just €9m, but have so far swallowed up €116m and are still not fully implemented
The HSE has also decided to suspend the rollout of a second computer system, the €30m Financial Information Systems Project, as it is based on the same technology as PPARS.
