A report commissioned by RTE's competitors has stated that the television licence fee gives the state broadcaster an unfair advantage.

A report commissioned by RTE's competitors has stated that the television licence fee gives the state broadcaster an unfair advantage.

The report was commissioned by the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland and compiled by DKM Economic Consultants.

It said the situation whereby RTE received most of the licence fee on top of its advertising revenue was damaging competitors who rely solely on the money they receive from advertising.
