A former detective sergeant today said his life had been totally destroyed by accusations he set up a false death threat allegation against members of the McBrearty family.

Bernard Conlon, a witness in a licensing prosecution against the McBreartys, alleged he was threatened by two men, whom he later identified as Mark McConnell and Michael Peoples, with a silver bullet to withdraw his evidence in the case.
