The Government has announced plans to provide funding for the World Ploughing Championships due to be held in Ireland next year.

The Government has announced plans to provide funding for the World Ploughing Championships due to be held in Ireland next year.

The announcement was made by Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan to coincide with the opening of the National Ploughing Championship in Co Cork today.

The World Ploughing Championships are due to be held in Carlow in September of next year.

Ms Coughlan said the level of funding to be provided by the State had yet to be agreed between her department and the National Ploughing Association.
