Dublin City Coroner's Court has begun hearing inquests into the deaths of three of the four Irish people killed by December's tsunami in southern Asia.

Twenty-seven-year Eilish Finnegan and 28-year-old Lucy Coyle, both from Dublin, died when the massive tidal wave struck the Thai island of Phi Phi on December 26th.

Twenty-three-year-old Michael Murphy, from Co Wexford, was also killed by the wave in the Thai resort of Khaolak.

The Coroner's Court heard details this morning of how Gardaí travelled to Thailand to recover, identify and repatriate their bodies.
