Man due in court over Creighton murder

A man is due in court this afternoon in connection with the murder of a pensioner at the weekend.

Eighty-two year old Michael Creighton was found dead in his apartment in Castle Street, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, on Sunday.

A post mortem revealed he suffered extensive injuries to his body prior to death.

A 36-year old man was arrested yesterday evening in connection with Mr Creighton’s death.

He will appear in court in Mullingar this afternoon and is understood to be originally from the midlands area.
