The Government's economic think-tank has called for the introduction of taxes on all fossil fuels in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In a report published today, the Economic and Social Research Institute says such taxes are needed to help Ireland meet its commitments under the Kyoto Protocol on tackling climate change.
