Eighteen people have been hospitalised following a collision between a bus and a truck in the Blanchardstown area of west Dublin this morning.

The accident happened at Ballycoolin at around 8am, but none of the injuries sustained are believed to be serious.

The bus was travelling from Ballymun at the time of the crash.

The road between Ballycoolin and the National Aquatic Centre has been closed as a result of the accident and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

Meanwhile, four people were also injured, one of them seriously, in a three-vehicle pile-up in Co Tipperary last night.

A car, a van and a car-transporter all collided on the N8 near the village of Littleton just before 9pm.
