Gardaí investigating suspicious death in Mullingar

Gardaí in Co Westmeath are investigating the suspicious death of an elderly man whose body was found at an apartment complex in Mullingar yesterday evening.

The 82-year-old was found dead at the complex on Castle Street at around 5pm after Gardaí received a call from relatives who had not seen him in a number of days.

His body is believed to have been extensively bruised.

The scene of the discovery has been preserved for technical examination and a post mortem is due to be carried out later today to determine the cause of death.
