€21,000 to put child through primary and secondary school

The estimated cost of putting a child through primary and secondary school has increased by 38% in the past two years, according to the Hibernian insurance firm.

The company said a survey it conducted found that children who go to school for the first time this week will have cost their parents more than €21,000 by the time they complete their exams in 13 years' time.
