Minister urged to act over bird flu threat

Minister for Health Mary Harney must act over the growing threat from avian flu amid warnings it will hit Europe, it was urged today.

Mary Lou McDonald, a Sinn Féin MEP, said Ms Harney must hold an immediate meeting with her Northern counterpart Shaun Woodward to address joint measures to tackle the dangerous flu.
