School reps and govt officials to discuss transport crisis
Secondary school representatives are due to meet officials from the Department of Education today to discuss a possible crisis in the school transport system this September.
The talks were prompted by the Government's move to end the "three-for-two" seating policy on school buses.
Bus Eireann has warned that thousands of children will lose their seats as a result.
These children do not qualify for places on school buses as they live outside the catchment area, but have been given them in the past on a concessionary basis.
