Irish holidaymakers stranded in Cyprus

Around 200 Irish tourists remain stranded in Cyprus this morning due to problems with the Cypriot airline Helios.

The holidaymakers were due to leave Larnaca for Dublin on a Helios flight at 7am yesterday, but their departure was cancelled.

They are now expected to be flown back to Dublin on a specially chartered plane this afternoon.

The delay is believed to be linked to precautionary safety checks on some Helios planes following last week's crash near Athens, which killed 121 passengers and crew.
