Union committee agree to deferral of Dublin Airport strike

SIPTU's industrial action committee today agreed to defer a planned strike at Dublin Airport.

The decision was made following a union meeting with management at Gate Gourmet.

Representatives of the 200 staff at the airport have been in on-going discussions with the catering company in an attempt to resolve issues surrounding employee terms and conditions.

SIPTU said the decision to call off the strike had been taken as a result of commitments given by the company.

A similar dispute among Gate Gournet staff at Heathrow in London last week caused chaos, grounding planes and disrupting thousands of passengers.
