51-year-old Oliver Lacey died after he sustained injuries during an altercation outside his home in the town on Friday night.

Shortly after midnight on Friday night a row broke out between a number of people near a petrol station on Celbridge Road in Leixlip.

During the incident Oliver Lacey was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital in Blanchardstown where he was later pronounced dead.

Yesterday, a post mortem was carried out and a full murder investigation has now been launched into the death of the father of two.

Gardaí at Lucan are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information.
