FG TD seeks separate county council for east Meath

Fine Gael has called for the establishment of a separate county council for east Meath due to the area's increasing population.

Party spokesman Shane McEntee said the local population had increased by one fifth in recent years, particularly in towns like Dunboyne, Laytown and Ashbourne.

He claimed basic services like water and sewerage were at crisis point and the area needed its own council to rectify these problems.
