Ireland to be represented during mourning period for Saudi king
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed Ireland will be officially represented during mourning for Saudi King Fahd.
No-one from here was present in Riyadh today for the funeral of the 82-year-old monarch, who died on Monday.
Muslim leaders from around the world attended the service at a mosque before his body was buried in an unmarked grave in line with strict Islamic teaching.
President McAleese offered condolences on behalf of the Irish people earlier, and expressed support for the new King Abdullah.
