VHI in contact with Bosnian hospital treating Irish girl
The VHI has said it has made contact with the Bosnian hospital criticised over its treatment of a Co Westmeath girl suffering from suspected meningitis.
Fifteen-year-old Aoife Murray, from Ashfield in Mullingar, fell ill while on a recent pilgrimage to Mejugorje.
Her local priest today criticised the hospital where she was treated in Mostar, claiming it was preventing her from being flown back to Ireland due to an issue with insurance and payment.
The VHI said today that it had been in contact with the hospital in an effort to resolve the matter, but could not comment any further on individual cases.
The company advised anyone who found themselves in a similar situation to get in touch with their insurer.
