SDLP urges Britain to review status of UVF ceasefire
The SDLP is urging the British government to review the UVF ceasefire following the murder of two men in Belfast in the past two weeks.
The most recent victim, 20-year-old Craig McCausland, was shot dead at his home in Dhu Varren Park in the north of the city in the early hours of Monday morning.
The other, 25-year-old Jameson Lockhart, was shot and killed while working on a building site in east Belfast last week.
The two victims had connections to the LVF, which is currently involved in a violent feud with the UVF.
SDLP leader Mark Durkan said the murder of Mr McCausland in particular showed the UVF ceasefire had been breached.
He has written to Northern Secretary Peter Hain asking him to reconsider the British Government's recognition of the loyalist group's cessation.
