Three badly hurt in Galway 'copter crash

Three people are in a critical condition following a helicopter crash in Co Galway this afternoon.

The incident happened in the Derrybrien area of the country, near Loughrea.

The helicopter is understood to have developed difficulties after losing contact with air traffic control at Shannon at 12.10pm.

The three victims have been airlifted to Galway University Hospital for treatment.
