FG, Labour to publish statement of intent
The leaders of the Labour Party and Fine Gael today agreed to publish a statement of intent on the major issues affecting Irish life ahead of the next General Election.
Pat Rabitte Labour Party chief, said both parties would give a broad outline of how they would tackle the health service, crime and childcare if the electorate voted them into a coalition government with Fine Gael.
Enda Kenny, Fine Gael leader, insisted the statement would not be a gimmick, but would offer the people of Ireland a real political alternative.
“This failed government needs to make way for a new government, one that can actual tackle the challenges that face Ireland,” Mr Kenny said.
“The events of recent months have shown again and again that they have lost energy, have run out of ideas and are failing to provide the Irish people with the sort of initiatives that are required to meet the challenges of our society.”
