Gardaí probe Co Cork shooting
Gardaí are investigating after a German-born man was assaulted by a group of partygoers near Kinsale, Co Cork following a shotgun attack.
The shooting occurred at around 5am at Roberts Cove when the man became involved in an altercation with a number of men.
It is understood the man, who has been living in Ireland for a number of years, had been stopped by gardaí suspected of drink driving at around 4.30am.
He returned to the spot near Minane Bridge where his car had been left with a friend later when a row broke out and the shooting took place.
A shot was fired from a legally held shotgun at a group of partygoers nearby. One man suffered pellet wounds to the stomach and hand.
It is understood the man was then attacked and beaten by men from the party.
The pair were taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
No arrests have been made. Detectives from Bandon are investigating.
