The owners of a nursing home in north Kerry have pleaded guilty to ten breaches of regulations.

Mary and John Moran, who own Dromore Nursing Home, were fined a total of €1,500 at a sitting of Listowel District Court.

Prosecuting solicitor for the Health Service Executive, Southern Area, Diarmid Cunningham, said the breaches mainly arose from the failure to give rosters and failure to employ sufficient staff at the nursing home, which closed last year.

Inspections were carried out by a three-person team from the Health Service Executive.

Louis McDonagh, solicitor for John and Mary Moran, said for the past number of years they found it difficult to run the nursing home and were no longer able to cope.

Mr McDonagh also said that they found it difficult to get the staff that they needed.
