Fishermen give Govt two-day deadline
A group of Wexford scallop fishermen is giving the Government two days to respond to proposals concerning EU fishing restrictions.
This follows their talks with Junior Minister for Agriculture John Browne this morning.
The fishermen are calling for compensation to decommission larger vessels, so that the fleet can remain competitive despite a cut in the number of fishing days allowed.
Minister Browne will meet with the Finance Minister this afternoon to discuss the demands.
