Limerick shots 'connected to shooting last month'
Two Limerick families had a lucky escape this morning after their homes were shot at within minutes of each other.
In the first incident, shots were fired at the front door of a house in the Craeval Park area of Moyross at 8am by a gunman armed with a shotgun. The house was occupied at the time but no one was injured in the attack.
Minutes later, more shots were fired at a house in the adjoining Pineview Gardens Estate, again at the front door. This house was also occupied at the time but no one was injured.
Two masked youths were seen in the area at the time and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both shootings to contact them.
It is understood the occupants of both houses were targetted this morning because they have connections with a man who was shot at in the Moyross area last month.
One man is currently in custody in relation to this incident and gardaí are still seeking a second man in connection with the same shooting.
According to gardaí, the latest shootings and the gun attack in April are linked to on-going criminal feuding in the Moyross area. These shootings however, are not connected to the much-publicised Ryan/Keane feud which has claimed four lives in as many years.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Limerick man in his 20's who was seriously injured in an assault at a city pub on Saturday night has been taken off the critical list.
The man suffered serious head injuries during an incident at a well known city-centre pub and was put on a life support machine at Cork University Hospital. His condition has since improved and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Gardaí at Henry Street are investigating the assualt and have examined CCTV footage taken from the pub. Detectives have also spoken to people who were in the bar at the time, but no arrests have yet been made.
