Fifth victim of school bus tragedy laid to rest in Meath

The fifth victim of Monday's school bus tragedy in Co Meath has been laid to rest in her home town of Navan.

Fifteen-year-old Loreto Convent pupil Aimee McCabe was buried following a requiem mass in Beauparc at 11am.

Local priest Fr Peter Farrelly told mourners that lessons could be learned from the teenager's tragic death.

"Concern has been expressed about safety on school buses and rightly so," he said, "but I hope that this debate will go wider than blaming people, that it will help us to think again of our responsibility towards out children.

"Children are all our responsibilities and we need to look again at our care for their safety and the values we give them."

The four other teenage girls who lost their lives in Monday's accident were laid to rest yesterday.
