Would-be raider shot dead in attempted robbery

Reports are coming in of a fatal shooting during an armed raid on a post office in Lusk, in north Co Dublin.

One raider has apparently been shot dead and another is injured after gunfire broke out at about 8.30am.

Armed gardaí are believed to have been present at the scene, but it is not yet known whether they shot the raiders.

Gardaí had the post office under surveillance when the armed raiders - thought to number three - arrived in stolen cars with false number plates.
