Man held over drugs haul
Limerick gardaí are tonight examining a 150kg haul of cannabis resin seized from a car at a checkpoint in the county today.
A Dublin man in his 40s was arrested when the van he was driving was stopped and searched in Birdhill village, about 25km outside Limerick City.
The drugs, which have a street value of €1m, have been sent to the Garda Forensic Laboratory in Dublin for examination.
The man is being detained at Roxboro Garda Station in Limerick City under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
He can be held for up to seven days under the legislation.
