Private firm to be hired in effort to speed up driving tests

The Government has reportedly agreed a package of measures designed to reduce the backlog of learner drivers waiting for full licences.

Reports this morning said Transport Minister Martin Cullen was planning to hire a private company to run the tests at centres throughout the country in tandem with existing State testers.
