NIB pays €5.8m to Govt to cover investigation costs

Justice Minister Michael McDowell has revealed that National Irish Bank has paid €5.8m to the Government to meet the cost of a High Court investigation into its affairs.

The court began an investigation in 1998 into claims that some of the bank's staff were helping customers to evade tax.
