The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO has rejected claims by the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern that Government initiatives to ease A&E overcrowding are proving effective.

Mr Ahern told the Dáil today that a Government move to buy beds in private nursing homes to free up hospital space "is now working".
