Residential abuse compensation bill may reach €642m

The body set up to decide on compensation payments for victims of child abuse in residential institutions has reportedly indicated that the total damages bill could reach €624m.

Reports this morning said the Residential Institutions Redress Board had based the estimate on the average award size of €78,000.
